What is Rotary?

Rotary exists to do good in the world!
Rotary is an international service organisation
Rotary is 1.2 million men and women in 166 countries.
Rotary is the world’s oldest service club but still remains extremely relevant today.
Rotary’s motto “Service above self” exemplifies the humanitarian spirit of the organisation.
Rotarians enjoy meeting to have some serious fun, fellowship and develop their personal and business networks and skills.
Rotary encourages the ideal of service.


Rotary addresses Global Issues.

- Eradication of polio

Rotary has set itself the goal of eradicating polio worldwide. Since 1979 Rotary has contributed over $700 million and immunised more than 2 Billion children. In 2007 Bill Gates donated $100m to rotary to help the fight against polio. Since 1985 polio cases have declined by 99%.

  • Alleviation of poverty and hunger and supply of clean water in Thailand and Cambodia.
  • The districts biggest supporter of Shelter Boxes. These are emergency relief boxes that support up to 10 displaced people after natural disasters.
  • Promotion of literacy and health in Timor Leste
  • Beanies for Mongolia
  • Operation Christmas child – Xmas boxes for poor children in the Pacific region.
  • Advancement of international peace and goodwill through student and professional/business exchange programs which promote cultural ties between Wyndham and the rest of the world.

ROMAC brings young children from overseas for life saving or dignity restoring surgery not available in their home country.

Ending Polio Worldwide


Rotary gives Australia a hand.

Australian Rotary Health (ARH) provides funding for research into all aspects of mental health as well as the indigenous health scholarship program. Other health programs help with organ donation, liver cell bank, ovarian cancer, prostate cancer, MS and Bowel cancer.
Rotary also works improving salinity and pollution of waterways.

Wyndham Rotary has supported our farming communities doing it tough by sponsoring a school breakfast program in the Mallee region.

Wyndham rotary supports the fight against childhood diseases by supporting the Royal children’s hospital good Friday appeal with our fun run.

We also encourage young people with annual Computer and Arts scholarships.

Camp Getaway - a weekend retreat for deserving children.
Helping financially strapped schoolkids attend school camps.
Rotary to the Rescue is an initiative that helps out deserving families or groups in the Wyndham area.


Rotary Club of Wyndham helps locally, nationally and internationally.

Rotary house in Wyndham provides primary children with early learning intervention programs.
Wyndham rotary supports the fight against childhood leukemia.
Annual Computer and Arts scholarships.
Camp Acacia - a weekend retreat for deserving children.
Helping financially strapped schoolkids attend school camps.
Supporting Mambourin disability services.
Donating goods and supporting a woman’s cooperative in East Timor.
Support student and young professionals exchanges which promote cultural ties between Wyndham and the rest of the world.


Reading and Writting... The keys to tomorrow


Rotaract is a service club for 18-30 year olds. Based on Rotary’s service above self principles, it is an opportunity for young adults to meet socially and volunteer to help the community.
Wyndham Rotaract has already raised over $20,000 for Mambourin enterprises (local disability services provider) through the Great Aussie Dunny Race. This is held every year just prior to the Weerama procession.
Their latest project is the Wyndham Short Film festival.
Rotaract meet fortnightly for fun, frivolity and project planning.
